Last evening Roomie and I were patrolling the property as is our sometimes wont, and she told me that it must soon be time to start watering again. While she went to retrieve a plastic bag with which to dispose of dog poop, I saw my clue that it was indeed time to start watering. The ditch out back (more properly known as the Gallegos Lateral) had water flowing in it. Hello, Irrigation season! We will let whatever crud has accumulated over the winter flow downstream for a week or two and use the meantime to till up a new vegetable patch.
At least, that is the plan.
When my sister visited here from Rome a year ago, she transplanted some mystery bulbs found when she and Roomie were digging the serpentine irrigation ditch through the rosebushes. One of the things she transplanted was a crocus, which showed us its lovely flower yesterday. It was still there today. Also sighted were the daffodils, which last year produced no flowers at all. The tulip line has reappeared, but last year it yielded no color.
In other news, I chainsawed three trumpet vines to the ground and ground up some of the brush piles. Unfortunately there is still a long way to go with that project.
